Northern Cyprus
Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC)
The northern part of Cyprus is styled as the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus
but is only recognised by Turkey.
The capital of TRNC is Lefkosa (Nicosia), which has a population of
approximately 35,000, where the main administration and business centers are.
Other major towns include: Gazimagusa (Famagusta) which is a flourishing
tourist, industrial and commercial center, as well as being the country's
principle port and Girne (Kyrenia), which is, a town of touristic importance
with a wonderful yacht harbour, Guzelyurt, Iskele.
Time in Northern CyprusLocal time is two hours ahead of
Greenwich Mean Time (GMT),
however, from April to September, the local time is three hours ahead of GMT.
For the rest of the year the time difference is two hours.NB
We have contacted the Government of TRNC to confirm details of date changes
between Summer & Standard Time and await their response.
